Week 8 Challenge: Add a Flap to Your Flap

Any time I have a chance to add more bulk to my planner, I'm ALL IN!  Since each week we already have a "flap" or "tip-in," I loved the idea of adding yet another folding element to my page!  I started with three manilla tags that I cut down to fit the width of my planner pages.  I stained them with Ranger Distress Stain in Barn Door, then edged them in Vintage Photo.  Once dry, I brushed on some white gesso  with a plastic card and let dry again.  I ripped up some old book pages and adhered to the tags with matte gel medium and let dry again.  I wanted some more definition, so I pulled out my big, fat, fun Stabilo Woody water soluble crayons, outlined the tags, then ran a wet paint brush around the edges to smudge.  I love the effect.

Next I stained the base of my 'tip-in' with Ranger Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass and again used my Stabilo Woody Crayons to color and smudge the edges.  For a pop of color and texture, I stitched a strip of crinkled vintage seam binding across the top of each tag and embellished with scraps and bits I had in my stash.  I stamped the numbers onto a piece of ledger paper using a very cool set of vintage wooden stamps I found at a Trade Days event in Fredericksburg, Texas (an entire alphabet, numbers and symbols for only $7)!  I used a variety of clear stamps to print my message "3 things I love" onto my blue page, then used washi tape to adhere my flaps to my main page, overlapping each one.  To finish up, I journaled on each tag and taped the entire project into my planner.
